I was lucky to be referred to Michael Lenihan of Gateway Consulting by one of my customers in Brisbane. I made a private land deal in Uluwatu Bali that was fully paid for and unsecured three years ago. After spending my money, I was in a compromised position and did not have a formal legal deed. Michael assured me he would do everything he could to secure my land. I instinctively trusted him, and my instinct was correct. Michael went at it with passion and tenacity. He was there for me from early morning to late night and was 100% in my court communicating with the landowner. Michaels’s knowledge and experience of Indonesian property and company law were thorough; he spoke the language and was discreet and culturally delicate when necessary. I only wish I had him on my team over the last 20 years in business, and I will undoubtedly have him there in my future endeavours, which I feel very confident about. In truth, he did not charge me enough for the work he did. Michael was a pleasure to deal with and never made me feel like I was asking too many questions or taking up too much of his time, keeping me informed every step of the way. It sounds too good to be true! But that was my experience. I left for Australia on Sunday, 15/10/24, and Michael completed the signing off of our PT PMA and the Land Deed in two days under a power of attorney, which secured my 50-year land lease with the landowner. To say I am happy is an understatement. All done in 14 days. Michael, a considerate and seasoned consultant, and Pak Josh, the notary, are dynamic duos who work well together. They are professionals who managed and conducted due diligence on my land and provided the reports so that I could feel confident that I bought in a good zone and could use the land to build our villas.

Always do your due diligence thoroughly rather than becoming a victim of unethical behaviour by sellers. Talk to other expats (not just one) and make sure your paperwork meets legal requirements. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gateway Consulting but always be your own judge of any opportunity, they will help you with guidance which I believe can be trusted, however the decision must be yours alone.
